Know what's scarier than an in-place upgrade to Windows 10? An in-place upgrade to a VM that you only have access to via Chrome Remote Desktop.

So, remember that i9-7900X mini-ITX box I had at work? Yeah, had ... a tiny chip on the lower-right corner of the motherboard blew up yesterday. Like ... light, sound, smoke. Fucker's dead, and it took the GeForce GTX 1070 with it. Out of an abundance of caution, the power supply is dead to me now too. So, it's upgrade time. Specs will be as follows:

MB: Gigabyte X570I Aorus Pro
CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X
RAM: 2x 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX
SSD: 2x 500GB WD Black (without heatsink)
HDD: 1x 4TB 7200RPM
GPU: Quadro P2200
PSU: SeaSonic 750W

Switching to AMD because rEaSoNs ... figure I should give it a spin with our product/dev process to see if we can save a shitload of money on new machines by using AMD instead of Intel. That, and there's no suitable mini-ITX LGA2066 motherboard anymore.

Yeah, I can't wait.   Well, it will still take a couple months of saving.

I sold the GTX 1060 3GB out of White Rabbit and will eventually replace it with a RTX 2060.

Getting ready to install Windows 10 20H1 on the NoxBox. It's labeled release, but technically not RTM yet. I don't care much, I wanna see what's new since the last major update...

Having used the new version of Edge at work for the past few days, I'm beginning to question the need for Chrome. I'm not losing anything if I use Edge in the office instead.

LOLOLOL

Edge is Chromium now. I can install Chrome extensions. Sites look the same in Edge as they do in Chrome. Once it hits Windows 10 Enterprise builds, it'll get deployed with the OS, so I won't need to deploy Chrome alongside it (except for web developers ... they get a lot of browsers).

Looks like I'm going to be spending the day re-installing Windows 7 and maybe Windows 10 on my parents' respective computers.
