I think the ASRock X299E-ITX/ac's default load line calibration setting isn't aggressive enough to run an i9-9920X at stock speeds. Bumped it up to level 1 (default is level 2) and was able to run Prime95 overnight ... before that I was getting 3-4 BSODs a day. Poor showing from ASRock, IMO.

Made dinner last night ... it was a ravioli lasagna. What's a ravioli lasagna, you ask? It's a lasagna, but instead of lasagna noodles, you use layers of ravioli. It's exactly as gluttonous as you think it is.

Only problem is, we had about 10 lbs of ravioli, 5 lbs of sauce, and over a pound of cheese. So, the food alone weighed at least 16 pounds.

Actually, that's not a problem. That's glorious.

In other news, hearing that Microsoft is actually going to ship a Linux kernel in Windows is a bit odd. Windows Subsystem for Linux is one thing, but actually running a Linux kernel without a translation layer under it ... unusual. On one hand, I'll love to run rsync in Windows at native speeds; on the other, Microsoft is pretty deep into phase two of "Embrace, Extend, Extinguish." Give it a couple years and the "year of the Linux desktop" headlines will finally be true because Windows 10 will become a Linux distro :p

Oh good. I set up Philips Hue Sync on my PC and configured it to work with the lamps to my left and right, so now when I play games, the lights on either side of me change colors/intensities to match what's on the screen. I finished my third Mass Effect: Andromeda playthrough with Hue Sync active, and it was fantastic.

Now ... season 17 of Diablo III has started so I may do that for a bit. Might play Borderlands: GOTY Enhanced when I get bored of that, though. I might also play TPS, since I never finished it (got bored of it ... fuckin' space Australia got played out fast).

Running into that bug in BL Enhanced wherein the launcher claims that the game files are corrupt or have been moved, even if I check/repair/uninstall/reinstall. The command line argument to bypass the launcher/videos doesn't work, so I have to run the application directly. Annoying.

Someone crashed into my car when it was parked and I was at an ice cream shop with my family. The new one. It's at the shop now, getting a significant portion of the rear bodywork replaced. I actually still have a few but they aren't used much at all these days. Probably twice a year to do third tier backups of family photos, video content for the YouTube channel, and important documents - all going onto single layer BD-R discs.

When I switched to the ThermalTake Core V21 I bought a Vantec Nextstar USB 3.x 5.25" enclosure and put my trusty LG BD-R drive in it - That was like two or three years ago. And then about six months ago Newegg had a crazy deal the current iteration of BD-R drives so I swapped in a new one. The old one still works and I'm strongly considering picking up another one of those drive enclosures for it.

But I only use it twice a year unless a special project comes along.

Kylie (my GF's youngest daughter) is supposed to tell me what order to watch all the Marvel movies in when I get up there. I'm so old and out of date that when someone talks about the Spider-Man movies I still think of the ones with Kirsten Dunst in them. And I haven't even seen those either. Tongue

Currently I'm binge-rewatching all 15 seasons of A&E's "Intervention"... I'm on season 13 I think.

Oh yes. It's most definitely about the Chernobyl accident. First episode takes place over the span of about 8 hours, second is a few days, third is a few weeks, fourth is a few months, fifth is a few years. It's really, really well-done.

Sweet! I love stories like that. If the show or movie is about a dystopian future (aka Maze Runner / Hunger Games / etc) I will usually love it. So this one is going on the short list.

That reminds me, "The Rain" on Netflix is a really good show. It's a German production and is dubbed over in english but once you get past that it's extremely well done.

There was another show on the same track I watched a few months ago, I think it was called "Into The Forest" again on Netflix. VERY GOOD SCHTUFFS!

Anyway someone on Youtube recently complained that I haven't posted a video in months, so I'm currently at my PC (rare these days) editing a video and getting ready to encode and upload. It's on the Watts hot water recirculating system that I installed recently. (spoiler: it is fucking awesome!) Let me tell ya, it's so nice to have instant hot water for whatever. Even simple things like being able to wash your hands in hot water.... you get spoiled AF really fast!

The Type R is a MONSTER. Good luck paying less than MSRP for it, though -- MSRP is the lowest I could find on that one, and the insurance is probably absolutely eye-watering. Also, keep in mind that it's not a full-on wagon a-la Volvo V60, but rather a hatchback.
