Yes. And, honestly, there's no freaking difference. There's only one thing I lost, and it's work-related, which the netsec team is working on solving.

Things are sucking for me big time right now...

My mom was admitted to the hospital because her leg got all infected and she started running a fever and feeling weak and sick. They discovered she has sepsis and her blood is also full of e-coli somehow. Then they found her kidneys were only functioning at 12%.

Then this morning I get the news that they found a tumor on one of her kidneys.

I'm 900 miles from Texas. It's killing me that I can't just go see her and visit - spur of the moment airfare is outrageous and the drive would be 13 hours there and 13 back and a couple hundred in gas. But if she takes a turn for the worse I'll have to figure out something....

The last time I got to see my mom was back in April when we drove down to get some of my extra belongings.... I don't want that to be the last time I see my mom. Sad

My fiancee has been feeling progressively worse since the middle of last week and Saturday we found out that one person she works closely with is in the CCU with COVID-19 fighting the fight. Two additional people are self-quarantining...

Yesterday morning we went to her doctor and got her a test but we won't know the results until later this week. They don't do the 15 minute test because they say it's pretty unreliable.

I haven't been feeling great either, I've been hoping it's allergies...... ugh....

She absolutely can't afford to get the virus. Because of her underlying health issues (no spleen, ITP, fibromyalga) it could very well kill her.

I really can't either. Although my immune system has always been pretty strong, since the sleeve surgery it hasn't been what it used to be. That combined with me rapidly becoming an OLD MANS could be really bad if the 'rona comes knocking.

Oh, on the mom front:

They got her infection under control and she eventually went home when she was supposed to go to a rehab first. She refused the rehab. UGH.

She's still pretty bad, but a little farther away from death's door. She still has to go back in to get a biopsy of the mass on her kidney but I bet she refuses to go and chooses to ignore it. Sad

Medical Marijuana is legal here, though I would not be surprised if FL legalized/decriminalized it for normal usage in the next couple of years.

The government is trying to be sneaky against it too, there was an Amendment on the ballot this year that anything passed by The People had to get voted on (and pass) a second time before it went into law. Thankfully that didn't pass, so it's still the same amount of PITA to get anything done instead of MOAR DUMBS.

From what I recall, leaving Colorado by road after legalization attracted all manner of law enforcement attention from the ... er ... puritanical cops. Based on that, I'd assume that reentering Kentucky via Indiana would be the recommended approach.

Keep in mind, that the next town over (3 miles away) has 2 FTTH providers.  One refuses to expand the other legally can't due to a lawsuit brought about by the other one.  Said lawsuit resulted in a state law prohibiting municipal ISPs in MN from expanding past community boundaries.

Don't even need to get a dedicated device for it, either. Can run it as a lightweight VM or container on a machine that's always on anyway. I've got a pair of Pi-Holes running in LXC containers on Proxmox, one for each vlan, and neither uses more than 300MB of RAM.

I couldn't migrate CentOS 7 to Oracle 7, but I was able to migrate 8. That said, I felt super dirty after doing that, so I scrapped that VM and installed Debian instead.

I've had surprisingly good luck with Docker on CentOS 7, and have found some peculiar behaviors when trying to migrate those containers over to Debian. I'll keep at it though.

Mildly disappointed that Docker's broken on FreeBSD at the moment. That'd be an interesting experiment.

I'm really only using Docker for one thing at home, and quite honestly I don't know how much longer I will use that one thing because I'm literally the only one in the house who uses it.

Moving my Plex server from CentOS 8 to Debian is going to be a right pain in the dick though. Got a good 6TB of data to migrate.

Still fine tuning and changing parts when I find out info.

Subbed the Crosshair VIII Hero wifi for the Strix Gaming E, Gonna go with a 1K PS instead of the 850 I have already, and the Asus AIO because I don't think a 120MM AIO will cut it for the cooling task. Changed to the Ballistix 3600MHz instead of 4000MHz one cause of the 1:1 infinty fabric and cause I am really not overclocking.

Damn. Just ... damn. Believe it or not, the only thing I'd change is the cooler: a Noctua NH-D15 kicks ass on the 3900X, so it stands to reason that the slightly cooler-running 5900X would be equally well-cooled ... of course, I'm not overclocking, and I'd slap an AIO on it if I were Smile

I just got done running the CAT6 cable from my kitchen to the patch panel in the basement and wall-mounting the UniFi AP-AC-Mesh access point that was in there. Now the PoE switch in the basement is powering it, so I got an outlet back Smile Before, it was connected to the UniFi Dream Machine wirelessly and getting power from a PoE injector. This should improve the connection quality for devices connected to it significantly, since a CAT6 backhaul outperforms a 5GHz wireless one any day of the week.
