ubuntu 11.10

#1
for anyone actually keeping up with it.

Impressions so far?

and right now I'm customizing the kernel to streamline it a little, but so far I'm liking it, the nvidia driver is working as it should.

I haven't had enough time with it in it's stable release, so i can't comment just yet, so reserved for future observations.

also I'm gonna be compiling the latest mainline kernel to test it, of course that means driver issues, but might as well test well i'm waiting for SW:TOR to come back up with the new round of beta testing. Big Grin

I really ought to build myself a second cheap-o box just for this kind of stuff. My linux desktop experience is nearly non-existant - put me in front of a command line and I can do anything but for GUI I'm a Windows boy.

I guess that's a good thing... especially for potential future employment. Being a *nix CLI junkie definitely can earn some big bucks.

I haven't touched 11.10 yet. 11.04 ran pretty well on a spare Dell OptiPlex 760 in the office (2.8GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD, Intel video), so I may need to see how it goes.
