So someone posted Doom 3 over at the [H] in a 'post your scariest gaming moments' type thread, and now I've got the itch to play again.
I don't think I ever actually finished it to tell you the truth...

It's pretty good for a single playthrough.
Also, go for the high score on Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3. And don't forget the [H]Modpack.

Linkage? I googled and [H] searched and can't find anything about an [H] modpack for Doom3....

It was kind of an amalgamation, I think. It had the ducttape mod, Reznor's original music, and a couple other things.

Yeah, I tried running a search on the [H] as well, but the results only go back to earlier this year. What ticks me off though is that I actually had the modpack a few months ago; I guess it got deleted in a format or I lost the disc or something.
edit: Your kung-fu is weak.

Yeah I also found a wicked cool 'Extreme' textures mod that looks absolutely sick... can't wait to try it out!

It better be good to be a 900MB download, lol.

Can't wait to play some more tonight. And I didn't even get motion sickness!
I decided not to use any duct tape mod or anything - I'd rather play it the way it was designed to be played. Having to switch between the flashlight and a weapon is more exciting anyway.
I did use a very small shader modification that enhances the lighting some, but otherwise it's a bone stock install.

Yeah, I used the mods because it broke my realism. A Marine that didn't have a light on his gun? Really?
That said, it was still a fun game other than the obvious "monster closet" stuff.

It's worth mentioning that my copy of Doom 3 (RELOADED release) had trojans in two of the files according to MSE. One was the setup.exe on the first CD and the other was autorun.exe in one of the setup directories. I'm not sure if these were false positives or not, I've never had a problem before and I've had this same copy in my archives for 6 years now - but to be on the safe side I just did a manual install. Copied the 'base' directory off of each CD to a directory on my HD and I was good to go. Patched/updated to 1.3.1 which I believe is the latest Doom 3 release.
The only graphical mod I used is this:

If you use it make sure to set r_lightscale to 3

If I could find a copy from RELOADED I'd love to use it, but all I can find is a copy by PITBULL

I acquired my copy by ... pre-ordering it, then walking to the Best Buy near my then-current workplace and picking it up. Guess I'm old-school like that.

I keep thinking I'm going to get it on Steam, but I never pay attention to when it's on sale. $30 bucks (game and expansion) is too much, imo.

Hey, if I could find it somewhere I'd buy it! Hmm I'll go check out Steam...
